This year's show will feature instrumental recordings from 11 Bullock studio solo releases. Hiram Bullock produced all of his solo albums.
The show is hosted by Bob and guest Jack Frisch, webmaster of HiramBullock.com and friend of the late guitarist. Frisch maintains the Hiram Bullock archives, a collection of all the guitarist's complete studio and live work in the form of audio and video. Frisch, owner of UprightGraphics.com has worked full-time as a Art director and designer in the music industry since 1997, specializing in the Jazz genre, designing CD packages, web sites, print advertising, press kits, photography and merchandise designs for independent artists, record labels and businesses around the World. He is also a voting member of National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
Frisch says, This year I'm excited to be giving away 5 copies of Hiram's "World Of Collision" CD through the show, courtesy of Neil Weis owner of Big World Music, www.bigworldmusic.com". Weiss was not only the producer of "World Of Collision" but was also a close friend of the guitarist as well.
Frisch states, "Many listener's first heard the sound of Hiram's guitar in an intro, a lead guitar line or a solo on someone elses CD. The sheer beauty of his tasteful blend of effects within his sound, captured our ears and led many of us to search out many, if not all of his sideman work. This year's show will feature selections of instrumental recordings from Hiram's own solo CDs that are rarely or ever been played on the radio."
"When Hiram performed live with his band he sang and played guitar, performing his own songs as well other by artist such as Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Steely Dan and more. Live. He would generally open up his first set with his instrumental classic "Window Shopping" and perform another called the "Da Alley" sometime later in the concert, but it was kind of a rare treat to hear him perform any of his other instrumental work. I thought it would be nice for this year's show to play some of those other songs.
'
As always the show will play a variety of Bullock's music as well as discuss history and factoids regarding Bullocks career and work provided from Frisch's twelve years of working for the guitarist.
"Make sure to tune in, it will be a solid hour of Hiram with surprises as always", Frisch said.
The Hiram Bullock Tribute Radio show first aired in 2008 out of an invitation by Bob Putignano to Jack Frisch to hold a radio show following Bullock's death at age 53 on July 25, 2008.. They had first met when Frisch accompanied Bullock to a interview at WFDU during Bob's show a few year's earlier. Since its first broadcast, the show has gained an international audience that continues to grow every year.
Jack Frisch would like to thank the following for their generous time and support: Jennifer Armstrong, The Bullock Family, collegues and fellow musicians of Hiram, all of his fans and members of the Bullockian Lounge at HiramBullock.com. Special thanks to Bob Putignano and WFDU for making this annual show possible.
